If it’s their first taste of college, then it will be an especially sweet one for local Bridgeport children who will be welcomed to the University of Bridgeport by President Laura Skandera Trombley on Tuesday, October 30 for the annual UB Halloween party.
Students from Roosevelt School and their parents accepted an invitation to attend the event.
Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with trick-or-treating, games, crafts, and other Halloween-themed activities at University Hall, UB’s newest residence hall.
University students will then escort young Halloween revelers on a “not so spooky” trail to Waldemere, the president’s residence, which will be decorated for more fun.
President Trombley said, “It’s not every day that goblins, ghosts, super heroes, and fairies come to college, so I’m really looking forward to getting to know them! Our UB students have worked hard to plan a fun event with lots of treats, and I know that everyone will have a wonderful time.”
Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students Edina Oestreicher added that UB “students and athletic teams love hosting Halloween parties for children in the community; they’ve done it for years. But this is the first time that trick-or-treaters have been invited to Waldemere by the president. It’s going to be pretty special.”
This will be President Trombley’s first Halloween on campus, too. Her first day as president of the University of Bridgeport was July 1, 2018.
This year’s Halloween party was sponsored by the University of Bridgeport Student Programming Board and the Residence Hall Council.
