The University of Bridgeport music department will present “A Winter Postcard,” its seventh annual holiday concert, at 7 p.m., Thursday, December 8 at the Mertens Theatre, Arnold Bernhard Center, 84 Iranistan Avenue.
It is free and open to the public.
Conductor Frank Martignetti and percussion director Jeff Jones will direct the UB Percussion Group, Chamber Singers, the University Singers, UB Gospel Choir, and the debut of the newly reorganized UB Jazz Ensemble in a lively evening featuring holiday favorites, American jazz standards by George Gershwin and Rodgers and Hart, and carols from England, France, the West Indies, and the United States.
“This year we’re especially proud to welcome the return of the UB Jazz Ensemble, a group that enjoyed great prominence throughout the 1970s for its superlative performances. And we continue to broaden this concert’s appeal to offer our audiences more,” said Martignetti, who produced the concert. “It should be a memorable evening for music lovers of all tastes.”
The concert is graciously co-sponsored by the University of Bridgeport Student Programming Board.
