The University of Bridgeport Department of Music will present “Themes & Variations: A Holiday Concert” at 7 p.m., Wednesday, December 8.

The concert is free and open to the public. It will be held at Mertens Theatre, Arnold Bernhard Center, 84 Iranistan Avenue.

Conductor Frank Martignetti and percussion director Jeff Jones will direct UB Percussion Group, Chamber Singers, and University Singers in a lively evening featuring breathtaking works by Joann Sebastian Bach, John Leavitt, Cesar Alejandro Carillo, as well as French, Nigerian, and Jewish choral works.

“The holidays are a time of coming together and giving. In celebration of that, we are featuring musical gifts that have been performed around the world, from the 1600s to the present,” Martignetti said.
