Sarah Begley, TIME Magazine books editor, will present “Dear Reader . . . Connecting Audiences with Books That They’ll Love” at the University of Bridgeport (UB) at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, March 22.
The discussion, followed by a question-and-answer session, will be held in room 107, Mandeville Hall, 230 Park Avenue, Bridgeport.
Ms. Begley’s special appearance is part of Necessary Voices, the popular lecture series about arts and ideas produced by the University of Bridgeport English department. She was invited in collaboration with UB’s creative writing program.
The event is free and open to the public.
Ms. Begley is a staff reporter and the books editor at TIME. In addition to book reviews, she writes about TV, movies, art, and culture for the magazine. Previously, she wrote for The Daily Beast and Hearst Media’s Food Network Magazine.
She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English, French and Francophone Studies from Vassar College.
“This is a special treat for anyone who loves books and wants to know what to read next or anyone who is interested in the fine art of writing engaging reviews,” said Diane Krumrey, director of the Necessary Voices series and an associate professor of English. “Sarah will discuss books and the art of sharing them through reviews–how she chooses books for her audience and how she frames her articles to try to pair the right books with the right readers.”
