Amy Nawrocki will read from her newest collection of poetry, Nomad’s End, on February 17 at Necessary Voices, the lively and engaging lecture series on writing and ideas hosted by the University of Bridgeport Department of English.
Ms. Nawrocki’s lecture, “From Beaches to Mountaintops: Exploring the Poetry of Place,” will be followed by a question-and-answer discussion.
The event begins at 4:30 p.m. at The Gallery, Arnold Bernhard Center, 84 Iranistan Avenue, Bridgeport. It is free and open to the public.
Ms. Nawrocki is the winner of the Litchfield Review’s 2008 Writing Contest and a finalist for the 2007 Codhill Poetry Prize. Her poems have appeared in Blood Orange Review, Pegasus Review, Exposure, and Modern English Tanka, among other publications. Her first book, Potato Eaters, was published by Finishing Line Press in 2008 and was named a top-ten finalist at the Hill-Stead Museum’s Sunken Garden Chapbook Contest.
She currently teaches creative writing and English at the University of Bridgeport.
