Lehman and Nawrocki are co-authors of the books A History of Connecticut Food and A History of Connecticut Wine.
They will tell stories behind nearly four centuries of American eating and drinkingâthe choice of crops cultivated, livestock raised, and seafood that has formed what’s become distinctive New England and Connecticut cuisine. They’ll also shed light on the emergence of wine production in Connecticut.
“Connecticut has such a fascinating history in terms of food and wine,” says Nawrocki. “It’s remarkable how much the wine industry has taken off in Connecticut in the last five or ten years. That has a lot to do with the Winery Act, which was passed in Connecticut in 1978 and gave landowners permission to make wine.”
Nawrocki and Lehman also will speak at 6 p.m., Friday, December 7, at the Fairfield University Downtown Bookstore, 1499 Old Post Road, Fairfield, and on an upcoming Faith Middleton Show.
