Anthony Vitti has been appointed interim director of athletics, the University of Bridgeport announced today.
Vitti began working at UB in 2004. He most recently served as associate athletics director for business and compliance. He is replacing Jay Moran, who in August begins his new job as director of athletics at Southern Connecticut State University.
Vitti ’03 is a University of Bridgeport alumnus and a former member of the men’s baseball team. He earned his bachelor’s in business at UB and holds a master’s in sports business management from Manhattanville College.
“As a former athlete and alumnus, UB is special to me,” he said. “I’m excited about the opportunity to guide the department.”
“Anthony’s connection to UB Athletics is personal and professional. As a former Purple Knight, he has first-hand knowledge of the programs, and he’s been a real key to growing our Department of Athletics,” said University President Neil Salonen. “We’re confident he’ll continue to build on our recent successes and help UB to become even more competitive in D-II Athletics.”
Salonen added: “We would like to thank Jay for his 10 years of quality service to our University and our Department of Athletics. He has been an excellent leader for our student-athletes and our coaching staff, and we wish him the best of luck in his new position.”
