The UBCC has received notification from Microgate, USA that its Human Performance Laboratory has been certified as an official testing facility. UBCC is the first chiropractic program to achieve this distinction.
The human performance program started at UBCC in 2011. Students in the program work in the laboratory and attend lectures to learn how to use the Optojump system technology in assessing human performance. Once a student is certified by passing an examination, the student is eligible to work with Microgate, USA client sports teams and organizations. UBCC students have worked at the facilities of the New York Rangers, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Devil Rays, in addition to providing testing and analysis for the athletic program at the University of Bridgeport.
“We are delighted to certify UBCC as a certified testing facility,” said Peter Gorman, DC, president of Microgate, USA. “The program at UBCC has made progress every year since its inception, and this designation has been well earned and deserved by everyone at UBCC associated with their performance laboratory.”
“I am happy Microgate USA has recognized the hard work and effort expended by our faculty and students in learning how to bring cutting edge technology to the patients we serve,” added Dean Michael Ciolfi.
Robert Lee, a performance laboratory intern and sixth semester student, expressed, “Thanks to UBCC and Microgate USA, I have been able to get involved in evaluating professional athletes’ performances, as well as understand the importance of correct movement and balance in the evaluation and care of patients.”
