The University of Bridgeport (UB) annual Faculty Research Day, featuring cutting-edge innovation and creative thinking in the sciences, medicine, arts, and politics, will be held Friday, February 1.
Showcasing work by faculty and selected students, the daylong event is open to the public and campus community. It begins at 9:30 a.m. at The Gallery in the Arnold Bernhard Center, 84 Iranistan Avenue.
Laura Manuelidis, who is head of neuropathology and a professor at the Yale School of Medicine, will deliver the keynote speech at 11:45 a.m.
This year’s event features 121 posters, with research in engineering, education, the health sciences, business, international relations, physics and biology, among other fields. Student research will be judged by a panel of UB faculty, and prize money will be awarded. A UB faculty research award will also be given.
“Much of this research comes from various fields, and a lot of it has exciting possibilities for commercialization,” said Dr. Tarek Sobh, vice president of graduate studies and research.
